Chameleone Turns Down Coffee Marathon Gig Due to Pay Dispute.
Renowned Ugandan music icon Jose Chameleone will not be performing at the much-anticipated Coffee Marathon, contrary to earlier announcements. According to a brief message shared on his official social media platforms, the artist's management stated:
> “Jose Chameleone will not be part of this marathon as was earlier communicated. However, he will be performing in Ntungamo on a different date, which will be announced in due course.”
While the official statement did not mention specific reasons for the cancellation, fellow artist Eddy Kenzo has since come forward with more details. In a recent revelation, Kenzo disclosed that the real reason behind Chameleone’s withdrawal was a disagreement over payment.
Kenzo explained that the organizers of the Coffee Marathon had offered Chameleone a fee that he found too low, prompting him to turn down the opportunity. Instead, the legendary performer opted to focus on other better-paying engagements.
The Coffee Marathon had included Chameleone’s appearance as a major highlight, and news of his absence has stirred mixed reactions among fans. As fans await an update on his upcoming Ntungamo performance, the situation has sparked broader conversations about artist compensation and event organization in Uganda’s entertainment industry.
